Gay Rights

Really? What is the problem with the leaders of this country? Don't Ask Don't Tell? Why the fuck not? I don't care if you ARE straight, as long as you can SHOOT straight. Too much bullshit...if you want to marry someone, as long as you're of age, not related to each other and mentally competent, who cares? Doesn't have an effect on my marriage. "But the bible says blah blah blah." Fuck that. The bible also says a woman having her period can't go near the men, cook, or pretty much anything else. Can I use that as an excuse to get out of housework one week a month? The bible says you can't eat pork, shellfish and all sorts of other shit. Guess hell will be crowded. It's a book, people. A book that was written thousands of years ago by people who didn't understand weather, physics, chemistry or astronomy. They thought the world was flat for fuck's sake. Then it was translated and edited a number of times. Who knows what the friggin book said originally. Here's a thought...believe what you want and leave everyone else the fuck alone. Don't worry about my life, or my afterlife, cuz I sure as shit don't worry about yours!

Off the Wagon Again

Fell off both the nicotene and caffeine wagons. Blech. Well, cigarettes are cheaper than therapy I guess.

Spring

Well I guess I'm not so good at the whole blogging thing. I am somewhat updated on Facebook, not so much on MySpace. Soccer season is 1/2 over, so only 4 more weeks of coaching. The weather has been hit or miss. One Sunday it's 90°F and sunny, the next it's 50° and raining. Coaching U-6 is kinda like herding cats. They don't know which way to run. They push and kick and bump heads. It's fun though. I won't be coaching in the fall because my little one will be U-8 and I know nothing about that level. Besides he doesn't want to play. He says he doesn't want to do Tae Kwon Do anymore either, but we'll see about that in the fall. I wish they had a similar soccer league for adults. I like soccer, but I'm not good enough to play with soccer people.

Groundhog - get ready!!

Bent Creek freebie

Please, please, please don't see your shadow!! It has been a long winter here in Central NY. We are gearing up to have one of the top 10 snowiest winters on record. If only I could convince my husband to go, we would never see snow again. The kids had 2 snow days in January. Luckily, they are not old enough to worry about Regents. The high school kids took one day of their Regents tests, then had a snow day the second day. Now the state says they have to retake both parts in June. I'd be upset. I took those tests, they weren't mandatory when I did, and they sucked.

WTF?

OK - some chick in Cali with waaaay too many kids already and no money somehow manages to get IVF so she can pop out eight(!!) more kids? Huh? How does that work? The welfare and Medicaid system there must pay pretty well. With that many kids they can make something like $10,000 a month and the kids would be Medicaid eligible. Methinks Mom probably is not in the labor pool, though. She's been pregnant for roughly 5 of the past 8 years. No mention of a father in all that mess. If there is a Baby Daddy in the equation he must be working his @$$ off to survive. Like I say when the Duggars are on - just because you can doesn't mean you should. 14 kids under the age of 7 is absolutely nuts. If mystery Mom wasn't crazy before she's gotta be certifiable now.

1/31 I guess she's not a mystery anymore. Good grief!!

Where's my bailout? Stimulus?

If President Obama really wants to stimulate the economy he should bail out us poor working slobs who struggle to make ends meet, using the devil's own credit cards. I am now to the point where I am taking money from one card to pay the minimum on the other. I am not asking for a handout - how about a low-interest loan for all taxpayers? Show the government your credit card bills and qualify for a 1% apr loan for the full amount for enough years to make it affordable. Then there would be a lot less people filing for bankruptcy. How about regulating the credit card companies so they can't charge 25-30% interest? Or go back to making interest on credit cards a tax deduction. I'm sure there are many people like me. I don't have a big screen TV or a brand-new car. I don't have an XBox or designer clothes. I shop at Walmart. I drive a used SUV with 150000 miles on it, and my husbands truck is only 6 years "younger" than I am. We live in a small ranch home that needs a new roof. Our clothes are discount store or thrift store finds. I don't have fancy jewelry, fake nails or high maintenance hair. I work full time, as does my husband. We have 2 children who are school-aged but young enough to need daycare after school and during the summer. Health insurance and daycare take more than half of my husband's check every week. I am taking online college classes to further myself (I already have an Associate's and am working on my Bachelor's). We are in debt up to our eyeballs not because we are trying to keep up with the Jones', but simply trying to survive. The credit cards keep food on the table and gas in the vehicles. My only "me" expense is an occasional cross-stitch pattern. A $5 or $10 pattern will keep me busy for months. I feel that if anybody should get bailed out of their problems it's the little guys. These big corporations are in debt, yet pay their CEOs 7 figure bonuses and fly them around in private jets. They blow through money like crazy because they have no reason to behave responsibly. They have never had to struggle. Never had to tell their children that they probably won't be able to have a birthday party with their friends because there is no money. Never had to borrow money so there were a couple presents for the kids from Santa. As a mother and a taxpayer it pisses me off to no end to see the inequality in this country. The rich stay rich by soaking money out of the poor. The poorest stay poor because they are not given any way to get out. And us in the middle class (what a joke) are screwed from both ends. We cannot dig ourselves out of debt, but "make too much" to get any help at all. Hard work is supposed to be the American way, but all hard work gets you is the opportunity to work harder to survive.
